The practice carefully combines architectural, landscape , interior and furniture design skills to ensure that their architecture achieves a holistic integrity.
After qualifying with distinction from University, Phil and later Graham were invited to work at Foster and Partners. Here they evolved their passion for highly sustainable and technical architecture, working on prestigious projects around the world such as the Hearst Tower in New York , The Kogod Courtyard in the Smithsonian, Washington D.C., Hermitage Plaza in Paris, Bishops Square in London, Corby Academy, Capital City Academy and many more.
Phil left Foster and Partners in 2007 to establish Phil Smith Architects and continued to innovate in the education arena, with his design for Te Mirumiru, an early childhood building being short-listed for a World Architecture Award in 2010 and gaining Phil the award of Lexus Young Designer of the Year in 2013.
Graham was made an Associate Partner at Foster and Partners in 2006, and left to join Phil, establishing Collingridge And Smith Architects in 2012.
